October Neighborhood Chipper Day
October 16 @ 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
The Neighborhood Chipper Program is a free chipping service for properties in the high fire areas of Yolo County. Piles must be stacked according to our guidelines and consist of vegetation from defensible space and fuels reduction projects.
Steps to participate:
- Conduct your defensible space work in the 100 feet around your yard.
- Stack your piles according to our guidelines (face all cut ends the same direction).
- Submit your request for chipping to the Neighborhood Chipper Request form on our website at the link below.
- The Chipper Crew handles the rest!
The Neighborhood Chipper Program provides free chipping to properties in the LRA and SRA that are moderate to high fire hazard severity according to CAL FIRE’s FHSZ maps, found here. This area generally includes western Yolo County (areas west of Winters and Esparto and throughout the Capay Valley) and select neighborhoods in Dunnigan and Zamora.
