August 2023 Fire Safe Council Meeting Updates

The Yolo County Fire Safe Council August monthly meeting took place on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 from 4 PM to 5 PM via Zoom.

The meeting kicked off with a review of the list of priority projects for the $800,000 Early Action funding recently re-allocated to Yolo County RCD from the Yolo County Board of Supervisors. The Fire Safe Council heard from Yolo County RCD staff about project descriptions, estimated budgets, and possible sites of projects. Members of the Fire Safe Council were given opportunities to provide suggestions and feedback on projects as well as designate planning groups for each project. The project list was pulled from the Yolo County Community Wildfire Protection Plan’s list of priority projects that community members voted on in community meetings held in late 2022. Check out the meeting recording to hear more about these projects at the link below!

The meeting continued with reports from Yolo County Office of Emergency Services and the RCD Coordinator Reports. Notably, the RCD announced the availability of cost-share funding through NRCS for wildfire resilience projects like fuels management on private lands.
