The February Meeting of the Yolo County Fire Safe Council happened on February 22, 2023 from 4 to 5:30 PM.
With the retirement of Chief Ramirez from the Yocha Dehe Fire Department, YCFSC currently has a vacant chair position. Vice Chair, Jonathan Flora, from Capay Valley Emergency Response Auxiliary and Fire Safe Council, was promoted to Chair based on votes from the Council.
Member announcements included a reminder from Chief Capatanio from Capay Valley Fire Protection District about the upcoming Capay Valley Almond Festival on the last weekend of February.
The Council heard reports from Yolo County Office of Emergency Services and from Yolo County RCD. Notably, Kate Reza, RCD Program Manager, gave an update on the RCD’s progress for the CAL FIRE Wildfire Prevention Grant. Alli Permann, RCD Outreach Coordinator, reminded the Council of resources available on the new Yolo County Fire Safe Council website (www.yolofiresafe.org) and of the upcoming Yolo Prescribed Burn Association Kickoff Meeting happening on Thursday, February 23rd from 3 to 6 PM.
The Council, then, moved to discuss the CAL FIRE Wildfire Prevention Grant, letters of support, and voting to recommend the Yolo County Community Wildfire Protection Plan to the Yolo County Board of Supervisors.
The next YCFSC meeting takes place on Wednesday, March 22nd from 4 to 5:30 PM.
