May Fire Safe Council Meeting and Updates

The Yolo County Fire Safe Council’s May 2022 meeting happened on Wednesday, May 25th from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm.
On the agenda, the Fire Safe Council heard from the Yolo County Coordinator about upcoming meeting dates, an update on the status of Yolo County’s Community Wildfire Protection Plan as the YCFSC CWPP Steering Committee has an outline and is looking for folks to submit potential projects ideas for the CWPP. YCFSC also heard potential funding opportunities for fire prevention projects and awards tracking. Additionally, the Fire Safe Council heard about the website design process and other outreach initiatives for programs like the Reflective Address Sign and the Neighborhood Chipper Pilot Program.
YCFSC heard updates from our local Fire Safe Councils: West Winters FSC, Capay Valley FSC (CVERA), and Pleasants Valley FSC. Most notably, Capay Valley Fire Safe Council gave an update on the Team Rubicon efforts for tree removal and vegetation management along Hwy 16 to ensure clear evacuation routes.
The next monthly meeting for the Yolo County Fire Safe Council will be on Wednesday, June 22nd from 4 pm to 5:30 pm.
